Why Should You Customize Your Nikkah Dress

Everyone has a different body type. On the other hand, online clothing stores offer some standard sizes for dresses. It’s a simple procedure: a customer comes to buy her favorite outfit, selects the size, and buys it. But when it comes to shopping the Mehndi or Nikkah dresses, the case becomes sensitive. Dress fitting is not that minor thing. It’s all about a day of extravagant wedding ceremony where you exchange wedding vows with your life partner. On that extraordinary day, one can not take the risk of choosing standard sizes.

At PK Bridal Wear, we offer standard sizes such as small, medium, large, and extra large, as well as custom-size options. Customization becomes essential when you plan to book bridal wear for a mehndi function or a walima wedding reception.

Everyone asks why and how to take measurements and what is important while doing so. Let’s get started!

Why Should You Choose Custom Size for Bridal Wear?

Here are three main reasons to choose a custom size (note: custom size is available in every product on the website).

  1. Ideal Fitting: With the passage of time, we felt strongly that fitting is the most essential part of bridal outfits. So, we introduced a custom-size option not only for luxury bridal wear but even for casual outfits. We know the importance of fitting; if a customer receives an outfit that is too tight or loose before the wedding day, this can be a severe issue for her as minor adjustments take lots of time in the luxury ensemble.
  2. Ideal for Plus Size Ladies: Not every lady is petite or skinny. There are thousands of plus-size brides-to-be in the United States. So what if you are a plus size and going to the knot soon? Yes, this is where our custom size option comes in. By choosing this option, you have full freedom to provide your own complete plus-size measurements.
  3. Suits Customer Preference: Sometimes, the customer likes a lehenga choli design or embroidery, but she wants the same design, fabric, or embellishments in a maxi (not a lehenga with a blouse). In this case, she can choose a custom size option and ask our fashion experts to make a maxi dress with the same lehenga choli outfit. Similarly, you can customize and design fabric and embellishments according to your choice/preference.

How To Take Measurements for Your Nikkah Day?

How To Take Measurements for Your Nikkah Day

First and foremost, you need to finalize the dress code for your big day. Once you finalize the style, keep in mind that there are three measurements you can not afford to go wrong with—shoulders, chest/ waist, and sleeves. If you buy a maxi, it can be loose from the hips; if you go with sharara/gharara, the bottom width can be loose. However, the three measurements mentioned above should be taken carefully in every dress (unless you buy an off-shoulder kurta or blouse with a lehenga). Here is the best way to take measurements of shoulders, chest/waist, and sleeves. Remember, this guide is for those who want to take their measurements themselves (not the tailor).

Shoulder Measurements

Ask a friend to place a measuring tape at the edge of one shoulder, stretch it straight across to the other, and note the measurement. Have a look at the image below;

Chest/Waist Measurements

There are two ways to take chest measurements;

1: Place measurements tape at the edge right corner of the chest or waist, stretch it straight across to the other, and note the measurements. Remember, this is a one-sided measurement.

2: Wrap the tape measure around the fullest part of your chest or waist, just under your armpits and across your nipple line.

Sleeves Measurements

Place the tape on your shoulder tip, bend your elbow slightly, and measure down to just past your wrist where the cuff will sit (if you want full sleeves).

Some Other Important Measurements

When you’re providing your own size measurements, remember that you need to provide your full height while wearing the same sandals you will wear at the event. When we receive your accurate height and the height of your heels, we can quickly assess your lehenga, maxi, or kameez length. Sometimes, customers provide the wrong kameez length, so our fashion experts can identify this error from the height. Not only this, but we can guess the trousers/sleeves length from the height as well.
